Terra Firma is a New Zealand mining company experienced in underground gold mining, underground coal mining and tunnelling. We provide a wide range of services from mine planning through to mine operation. We currently provide expert advice, solutions, and work at sites across New Zealand.

We pride ourselves on high quality work, independence and the ability to solve complex problems. Our staff are experienced in a range of activities including the preparation of mine plans, health and safety management plans, carrying out mining operations and undertaking support services.

Operations

Terra Firma is largely focused on the New Zealand mining industry. We are currently the mine operator of an underground gold mine and are also contracted to provide miners to install ventilation and mine services, and to man a narrow vein airlegging operation at another mine in the North Island. We also have a 50% holding in an underground gold mine in New South Wales which we are currently bringing back into operation.

Workshops

Terra Firma owns and operates engineering workshops in Huntly and Reefton (Reefton Engineering) to support its own operations and to provide services to the wider industry. Core activities include the repair of trailing cables, maintenance of mobile plant and fabrication works.

Management Support

Terra Firma can provide a support role for your management team, from taking responsibility for planning, risk management and health and safety compliance through to taking complete control of operations or managing discrete projects

Technical Services

We offer specialised technical services in resource management planning including consenting, dust sampling, ventilation surveys, and environmental audits.

Surface Works

Terra Firma can undertake specialised civil works including portal construction, ground stabilisation, contouring and rehabilitation.

Health & Safety

At Terra Firma, we believe all accidents are preventable and prioritise safety. Terra Firma achieves this through regular training and following correct safe operating procedures.

We work in operations across New Zealand and in Australia. We have expert knowledge of mining legislation and we develop, monitor, and audit Health and Safety Management Systems and Operating Plans.

Environment

We recognise the importance of minerals in the production of modern technologies and believe it is crucial to ensure that the extraction of minerals is carried out with minimal impact on the environment.

We believe it is possible for the mining industry to have a minimal impact on the environment through the implementation and innovation of science and mining.

Equipment

Terra Firma owns underground LHDs, personnel transporters, road headers, excavators, mine fans, a range of electrical load centres and material handlers. Terra Firma has a full range of air legs, roof bolters, and shotcrete equipment.

People

Terra Firma has a dedicated group of experienced and qualified people, including competent miners, supervisors, geologists, mining engineers, mine managers and project managers. Our staff hold a range of statutory qualifications including SSE, First Class Mine Manager, A & B Grade Mine Managers, Ventilation Officer and Mechanical & Electrical Superintendents.
